Long Associated with Golfing Grandfathers, prepubescent schoolboys and college professors, corduroy has been saddled with decidedly unglamorous connotations over the years. But this season, cord is finally allowed to play with the cool kids.

On the runways, the textile known for its lovable vertical ridges (or wales) took center stage. Gucci showed hyper-tailored corduroy trousers and safari blazers in its fall collection, giving the country classic a sophisticated European spin.
